Problem: Fuel Stability and Debris in Fuel and Fuel Systems
Today’s fuel is engineered to be used soon after it has been blended; fuel that won’t be used for a month or more needs to be stabilized. As fuel ages it can form harmful gums and other solids that leave deposits throughout the fuel system. Carburetors, fuel pumps, injectors and fuel tanks become gummed which makes the engine run poorly and hard to start, resulting in engine knock, lost performance, and rough idle. It is especially important to stabilize ethanol/gasoline blends which degrade much faster than traditional gasoline.

Problem: Water in Fuel
Water in fuel will degrade combustion, affect the octane level and can cause damage to internal components such as fuel pumps and injectors. As the amount of water in the fuel increases, engines begin to run rough or even stall. Ethanol fuel is even more likely to be affected because alcohol naturally attracts water from the atmosphere. Water in fuel can lead to phase separation when water and ethanol form a chemical bond and fall to the bottom of the fuel tank.

This allows more water to be dispersed throughout the fuel as sub-micron sized droplets that can be safely eliminated as the engine operates. Today’s fuels have been designed to burn very cleanly, but at the expense of power and performance.
